ABSTRACT

The agriculture, hunting and fishing, as an economic activity (branch of economy) encompasses production of crop and livestock, hunting and related services, forestry and logging, fishing and aquaculture. Given its importance for peoples’ survival (sources of food and raw materials for further processing), agriculture can be characterized as the most important economic activity. This paper will analyze the importance and structure of investments in agriculture, hunting and forestry in the Brčko District of BiH compared to the State level. It explains the concept of investments in different areas of agriculture, hunting and forestry. The paper provides a comparative analysis of investments in this sector in Brčko District BiH in terms of paid investments, the main sources of investment financing, technical structure of investments and conclusions. Results of a survey suggest greater importance of the sector of agriculture, hunting and forestry for the economy of Brčko District of BiH than for the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also shows greater share of investments in this sector of economy in Brčko District of BiH, as well as the financing provided from traditional sources (own funds and financial loans) and less valuable tangible fixed assets (basic herd, perennial crops, machinery and equipment of lesser value, etc.).
